Faith Kids @ Home: January 1, 2012

The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, January 1.  We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.

Jacob Wrestles with God

Passage:  Genesis 32

Principle:  God hears the prayers of those who believe in Him.

Praise:  “Our God Is an Awesome God”

Prompt:  Ask your child these questions:

  • What did Jacob pray to God?
  • Why did Jacob pray?
  • How did God answer Jacob’s prayer?

Practice:  Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

  • By trusting God instead of fearing men.
  • By confessing his need for God.
  • By relying on God’s promises in prayer.

This Week:  As a family, read Genesis 32.

Next Week:  Genesis 37

Key Verse:  Genesis 32:28
“And He said, ‘Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
