Yesterday, for my class devotions, I asked students to list some of their activities and focuses over the past week. I then instructed them to write a Psalm to the Lord based on their current life situation, and I wanted to take time to share some of their perspective:
Student Psalm 1
Over all things; God is Good!
During my commitments; God is Good!
While I study APUSH; God is Good!
In my relationships; God is Good!
When I have to work until 12:45 a.m.; God is Good!
Even during cancer; God is Good!
In ALL things, not some, ALL things; God is Good!
Student Psalm 2
Even though I’m busy with school and sports,
Thank you, God for being my peace.
It’s comforting to know you’re always there.
Even when things don’t go my way,
Thank you for giving me the ability to play volleyball.
Even though it’s been hard, I have greatly enjoyed it
and will miss it next year.
Lastly, thank you for my family and my many friends.
I love them so much;
They are what help me through my day.
Thank you for loving me.
Help me see past my problems
and make an eternal impact on others.
Student Psalm 3
Lord, you know what is going on in my life.
You know that I haven’t gotten to have a lot of free time
between homework and other commitments.
You know I’m tired and frustrated by school,
but You have promised to never give me more than
I can bear.
Help me to remember that You are preparing me
for something greater in life than myself.
Help me to be thankful to you for the “fun” things I get to do
and help me to do them for You and Your glory alone.
Student Psalm 4
My life is so busy!
I try to have fun in every situation, though.
Thank You for my church youth group –
I pray that You will help us grow closer.
Thank you for Faith and how I’ve come to love it here.
Please give me endurance as I run
on less and less sleep through the week.
Thank you for the awesome teachers,
even though they give out a lot of work.
Help them to get their grades in on time.
My friends are awesome!
What blessings they are to me.
Please give me guidance with my relationships –
help me know the right things to say.
Let us be mutually encouraged.
I’m thankful for those people,
but sometimes they drain me emotionally!
Thank you for the soccer team too –
I love all those girls and our coaches.
I miss it already. I Love You!
