On July 9 we began training our new set of interns, and on July 22, six new interns joined our intern team! We’re thankful for how the Lord brought these women to us from different states and even Canada to learn, serve and grow over the next year. Today, meet one of our international interns!
My name is Katie Anderson and I am from Ontario, Canada. I grew up in a Christian home where both my parents loved the Lord and taught me and my 6 siblings about the Gospel and encouraged us to live for him. I went to Word of Life Bible Institute for two years and studied biblical foundations, theology and ministry. Before I came to Vision of Hope, I was working at my church as the Women’s Ministry coordinator and Awana Commander.
How did you hear about the VOH internship? Why were you interested in coming to VOH to serve for a year?
I heard about Vision of Hope from friends at Word of Life. I was very interested in the internship because I have a heart to serve the Lord in women’s ministry and I am very interested in biblical counselling and I love how with this internship I could do all those here and grow personally in my relationship with the Lord.
What are you excited to learn and grow in this year?
I am very excited to work with so many wiser, older women who are biblical counselors. I’m also excited to be able to learn how to love these women well and how to encourage and use God’s word to bring hope into their situations and point them to Jesus.
If you were to plan and cook a meal for the residents, what would you fix for them and why?
I love to cook and would love to plan a meal that is fun and new. I would love to cook a Canadian dish for them called “Poutine”. I think it would be really fun to introduce them to a dish I grew up with and something new from another country.
I have heard of poutine but never tried it, and I doubt many of our residents are familiar with it. Maybe Katie will need to make it for us sometime this year! Even if we have to wait on the poutine, we are grateful the Lord opened the door for Katie to come learn about women’s ministry, discipleship and counseling, and know He will give her ample opportunities to share His hope with others during this year.
