A Letter to My Idols

The most exciting thing we have an opportunity to witness at Vision of Hope is the salvation of hurting young ladies. When a lady enters our program without hope – and without Christ in her life – it is the most joyful, awesome experience to see her receive Salvation through Christ alone by choosing to accept Him as her Savior and Lord. The joy and freedom that comes from that decision is life-changing, and we are so thankful to have the opportunity to watch this Salvation transform lives!

One of our residents recently received the freeing gift of Salvation! Moved by this newfound freedom, she wrote a poem that she would like to share with you. Join with me in praise to our Father!

A Letter to My Idols

You have controlled

I have obeyed

You convinced my heart

of your cruel way

You have tortured and tricked me

You’ve caused much despair

You’ve lied about God

and told me He’s not there!

But I know the truth now

It’s here in His Word

Yes, I am complete now

Bought back from your curse!

No more will I listen

No more be your slave

No more let you torture

No more tempt the grave

I have a choice now

I see the two paths

You are still an option

But Truth wins at last!

You have controlled

I have obeyed

You convinced my heart

of your cruel way

But now you see

I’m done with you!

I have a new Master

And His Word is true!

I am set free now

A child of the King

Bought back and precious

Finally able to sing!

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
