Dear FCS Parent,
I’m writing to you today to share some updates with you regarding our current and future school program plan. I’m sure that many, if not all of you have had your schedules rocked over the past two weeks. Even in some of the uncertainty, we can exclaim with the Psalmist, “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24). We also have the wonderful reminder in II Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” Let’s allow these priceless truths to help guide and direct our thinking through these interesting days that the Lord has established.
As we plan our next steps, I’ve appreciated the opportunity to work with our entire ministry to seek the best plan to serve our students, families, and staff well in the coming days. We understand that adjustments and changes may be needed along the way. The governor of Indiana has ordered all schools to stay closed through May 1, 2020. FCS will continue to provide distance learning through the duration of any building restrictions. Our teachers and staff are working diligently to provide an excellent learning experience for our students. I’m thankful for their hard work and willingness to go the extra mile(s) for our students.
Faith Christian School will continue to bill full tuition to provide educational instruction, whether in person or through distance learning. Our staff will continue to generate lessons with a biblical worldview. We will provide feedback on work, conversation, and assessments in order to continue opening the physical and spiritual minds of our students as well as maintain all academic records.
This is a difficult situation. Our goal, first and foremost, is to bring glory to God, protect everyone’s health, and serve our school family in an excellent manner. This is a time when having a healthy community matters deeply, but also a time when many organizations are facing financial pressures, including FCS. I want to also be committed to working WITH our families during this time.
During these days, we plan to fully compensate our faculty and staff – as they continue to work in coordination with the mission of FCS. Financially speaking, we realize that several of our important fundraising events were cancelled or may be cancelled in the future. If you are able to financially give, over and above your current financial responsibility, please consider a contribution to our Friendship Celebration that will help us pay our ongoing expenses for staff and facilities. You can make a donation online here.
I’ve laid out some responses and plans for specific events, programs, etc. on the following page. I’ve also been providing daily video updates through Facebook Live along with daily updates through e-mail. I trust that you have been able to keep up with these daily communication threads.
Thank you for your prayers and your ongoing support. Keeping our school family in community is still a high priority as we seek to partner effectively through these ever-changing days. Please contact me directly if I can be of help and support to you and your family during this time.
Sincerely,
Mr. Scott Grass
School Superintendent
