Serving for His Glory: Meet Erin!

The next intern we want to introduce you to is Erin Greenwood.  She also began her internship in January, so she and Stephanie are our two senior interns at this point in their internship program.  Erin came to VOH from Union, Kentucky, where she was involved in her church and serving as a lay counselor.  We were so thankful that in the Lord’s provision, Erin was able to come in January to begin her internship!  Hear now from Erin!

Before coming to VOH I was working as an administrative assistant at Answers in Genesis.  I enjoy playing and watching most sports. I am a big University of Kentucky basketball fan and a Cincinnati Bengals football fan.  I enjoy playing golf and sometimes tennis.  I also enjoy running and working out.

As far back as I can remember attending church has always been a part of my life but for me it was much more about the tradition of it all, and something that I just did because I was a member of my family, than it was about understanding the gospel and having a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Most of my life up through college could be summed up by living for me and what I wanted.  My goals, my accomplishments, what was easy, fun, enjoyable and comfortable. In late 2000, my family started to attend a new church. It was there I heard for what seemed like the first time that I was a sinner in need of a savior and that my sin separated me from a holy God. The answer to that problem was having faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation for my sins.  In the spring of 2001 after understanding that message I trusted in Christ alone to save me from my sins and chose to no longer live for me and my desires but to live for God and His desires.

How did you hear about the VOH internship?

I heard about Vision of Hope through my church and from coming to the Biblical Counseling Training Conferences at Faith Church in February.

Why were you interested in coming here to serve for a year?

To learn more about the field of biblical counseling, especially harder cases and to seek some direction on my future in this field.

What are you excited to learn and grow in at VOH?

Seeing the ins and outs, the ups and downs of what it takes to run a ministry like this.

If we had a fun themed day at VOH, what would you want the theme to be and why?

Sports themed, because I’m a big sports fan.

How have you grown in the last 6 months?

I have grown in my dependence on the Lord and that there are often times where He uses situations and circumstances to show me my need for Him. That in ministry we are just faithful to speak, encourage and minister.  He is the one that really changes the heart.  He is calling me to be the best intern I can be for His glory alone, not for my glory.

What are you looking forward to for this next 6 months?
Having more opportunities to observe and further develop my counseling skills.  I am excited to further develop and broaden the skills I have developed over the last 6 months.

Erin blesses us with her wisdom and we are excited to see what ministry opportunities the Lord opens up to her in the future!
