Biblical Education for Effective Christian Ministry

Equipped to Equip

“Dr. Alexandre Sacha Mendes”—it was fun for me to say that today as I greeted Pastor Mendes. “Sacha,” as he likes to be called, is a Faith Bible Seminary M.Div. grad (2010) who recently earned his D.Min. in Expository Preaching from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Pastor Sacha’s D.Min. project focused on equipping Brazilian pastors to preach Christ from the Proverbs.

Dr. Mendes was part of FBS’ first M.Div. cohort (2007-2010). Upon graduation from FBS, Sacha was hired as an Associate Pastor at Maranatha Baptist Church in São José dos Campos, Brazil. On February 24, 2019, Pastor Mendes will be installed as Sr. Pastor at this church where he has served for nearly a decade.

Spreading the Influence of Biblical Counseling World-Wide

Pastor Sacha is on the Board of Directors of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. And he was a founding member of the Association of Brazilian Counselors Biblical (ABCB) where he still serves in a leadership role. Sacha has also published several books in Brazil in Portuguese.

Even though Spanish is his second language (English his third), Pastor Mendes is sharing sixteen sessions at this weeks2019 Faith Biblical Counseling Training Conference in the Spanish track—without a translator. Topics include Counseling Youth, Creating a Culture of Care in Your Church, Peacemaking, and Discerning God’s Will.
