As a senior on the wrestling team, I am really looking forward this season. I have had the opportunity to be a part of the Faith wrestling program for the past 10 years. Throughout my time as a wrestler, I have seen many coaches come and go. This causes me to be very thankful for our current coaching staff and head coach, Justin Kuhn. Coach Kuhn has a genuine care for the wrestlers, which affects their level of dedication to the sport. Over the past couple years, the program has strengthened and grown in number. When Faith joined IHSAA, the team was forced to downsize because homeschoolers were no longer allowed to participate. However, the current coaches have worked hard to regain a full team and build momentum.
So far, the team has begun official practices. I am encouraged when I look around the full mat during practice, knowing from experience how much work it has taken to get the team to the place it is now. The season looks promising, with returning wrestlers who are constantly getting better and many new wrestlers that show potential. I am proud to be both a member of the team and their captain. I thank God for all the blessings that He has shown, along with my incredible coaches.
