We all struggle with wanting our own way. We often think our ways, our plans, and our timing, is better than God’s. We know that God’s thoughts are are different than ours, and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9). That would be a scary thought – that God’s plans may be different than ours – if not for the fact that He is perfect and always trustworthy. Psalm 18:30 states, “As for God, His way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.”
We can rejoice and find much peace in knowing that we don’t always know what is best, but God does! His ways are always perfect, so we don’t have to scramble to control our lives. There is great freedom in surrendering fully to Him and committing to follow His ways and trust His plans.
The classic song, “I Surrender All,” is a great testament to the attitude of humility and peace we can have by surrendering to our wonderful Savior.
