Faith Kids @ Home: November 11, 2012

The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, November 11.  We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.

God Is Sovereign over Friendships

Passage:  1 Samuel 18:1–11; 20:1–42

Principle:  Relationships are a gift from God.

Praise:  “Beloved”

Prompt:  Ask your child these questions:

  • What kind of relationship did David have with Saul and Jonathan?
  • Why did Saul try to kill David?

Practice:  Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

  • By showing love to those who love him and to those who dislike him.
  • By trusting that God is sovereign over the relationships in his life.

This Week:  As a family, read selected portions of 1 Samuel 18:1–11; 20:1–42.

Next Week:  1 Samuel 24

Memory Verse:  1 Samuel 18:3
“Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.”
