Meet Heather Starkweather, VOH’s Counselor/Social Worker Extraordinaire

I am blessed by my position as a social worker and Biblical counselor at Vision of Hope in Lafayette, IN.  I will be celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary this October with my husband, Jim. I have a teenage daughter and a teenage son and greatly enjoy parenting with Jim.  Our family enjoys spending time together, attending sporting events, playing games, watching movies, and visiting our extended family in Northern Indiana and Michigan.  I am about half way through the MABC (Master’s in Biblical Counseling) through Faith Bible Seminary.

As the staff social worker I strive to assist counselors to help the girls in our program have everything they need to meet their goals successfully.  I assist them with medical needs, educational needs, and help them resolve legal issues.  I also oversee the intake committee and train and schedule Vision of Hope volunteers.  I counsel 5 ladies and greatly enjoy sharing hope and healing from God’s Word.

One of my favorite Bible verses is 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
