Meet Eshté!

We had a group of four new interns join our intern team in January.  They have been learning and serving here almost four months now and are each a blessing. Eshté comes to us from the state of Washington, and has been excited to jump into learning all she can during her time here.  After her internship, she hopes to return to her home church and serve in her church’s counseling ministry, blessing them with the experience she gains during her time at Vision of Hope.

How did you hear about the VOH internship? Why were you interested in coming to VOH to serve for a year?

I heard about the internship while I was in the middle of doing my ACBC certification.  I was doing the supervision stage and had started praying about getting additional, hands on training as soon as I was finished.  I started looking at the Faith website, because I loved their heart for counseling and the way they approached it as a ministry.  I knew a little bit about Vision of Hope, but had no idea that they did internships.  I “stumbled” across a Facebook post talking about the internship positon….and by God’s grace…the rest is history!

What are you excited to learn and grow in this year?

I came here particularly to see how God’s Word applied to what the world would view as the more “extreme” situations.  I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God’s Word holds all the answers, but I was very aware of my lack of experience and knowledge in a lot of areas that people struggle with.  I’m so thankful for the opportunity to see how the Bible is applied to the hearts and lives of young women who have been so incredibly broken by sin. The teaching here is very practical in its application.

How have you been encouraged or stretched thus far into your internship?

I have been encouraged by the privilege of working with so many other like-minded young women.  The friendship of the intern group has been such a blessing and encouragement in so many ways!  At the same time, coming from far away, it’s been stretching to adapt to a completely different environment with so many new people.  A new schedule, new church, new co-workers, and 20 new eyes staring at you every time you walk into the room…takes some getting used to!

What is one of your favorite things to help with or supervise as an intern?

As an intern one of my favorite things to supervise would be the evening free time.  It offers a unique opportunity for more casual interaction with the girls, and can have some very sweet times of conversation as well.  It can, however, be an eventful part of the night…especially if it’s been a long day and there’s a lot going on…so it always keeps me on my toes for sure.

We are thankful for Eshté’s time growing and serving here and look forward to hearing how God uses her in her local church in the future!
