Our hope is that we are giving you a better glimpse into the lives of our residents at Vision of Hope. There are many things they are able to be involved in through our program, and we are glad to give you some further insight into what it is like to be in the program. Maybe you or someone you know is considering applying to VOH to be a resident. If so, this series of blogs may be a source of information for you to input in a very important decision in your life.
It is our hope that each resident become a graduate of the program with a heart that loves the Lord Jesus Christ and worships Him only. Glorifying God is the greatest spiritual goal for all Christ-followers. The outworking of this goals is manifest in practical goals. We want to provide opportunities for our residents to obtain skills in daily life areas they may not have received experience in before. One of these areas is cooking.
For ladies in Phase 1 of our program, we follow a rotating schedule where a few of our ladies work with an intern each day to help prepare the meals for the whole house. With many varieties of recipes, there are plenty of opportunities to learn basic cooking skills, not to mention the unique opportunity to learn how to cook for about 30 people! Some ladies come to our program already very comfortable in the kitchen, but many do not, and it is always exciting to be able to help and teach them this basic life skill.
Working with our residents is a joy, and our meal prep times are just one great way we can interact with them onĀ relaxed, basic level. Stay tuned to hear more about some of the basic skills in which we seek to guide our residents!
