Animal Tales, the Zoo that Comes to You

We have several in-house field trips at both Faith Preschool locations, and one of those is Animal Tales which is presented by the Columbian Park Zoo. Each month the zoo brings a book and a corresponding animal to the preschool. Throughout the story, the zookeepers like to keep the kids guessing on what the animal could be. Once the story is finished they bring out the animal and talk with the children about what it eats, its native home, etc. and bring it around so the children can have an opportunity to pet it. The kids look forward to this each month—In August the zoo brought a tortoise named Shiloh! Some of the other animals the children have seen in the past are: armadillo, parrot, wallaby, opossum, frog, and many more. This is a fun and educational experience for our students and it’s a blessing to see their faces light up as they have the opportunity to see a new animal each month.
