Faith Kids @ Home : May 31 , 2020

The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, May 31. We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.

Jesus Defines Discipleship

Read: Matthew 16:13-17, 20-27

Ask your child:

  • What did the Father reveal to Peter? “Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.”
  • What does it mean to deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Christ? Christians must crucify sinful desires and choose to please God.

Emphasize this principle: Jesus rewards faithful choices. Therefore, we should deny ourselves and follow Him.

Practice:

  • Say “no” to sinful desires, and choose to please God instead.
  • Rejoice that Jesus will reward those who faithfully follow Him.

Praise: Change My Heart, O God”

Prepare for next week: Matthew 25:14-30

Memorize for Apr 26-May 31: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9 (ESV)** Preschool verse in bold
