The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, December 30. We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.
Israel Disobeys God
Read: Judges 1-3
Praise: “Create in Me a Clean Heart”
Ask your child:
- What cycle was repeated throughout the book of Judges? Israel rebelled against God; God judged Israel through it’s enemies; Israel cried out for relief; God provided deliverance through the judges.
- What was a judge, and what job did he or she have in Israel? Judges were leaders who strengthened and delivered Israel from peril.
Emphasize this principle: God expects our full devotion. Therefore, we should obey Him.
- Identify and forsake any desire that is stronger than your desire to please God.
- Thank God for showing mercy to sinners.
Prepare for next week: Read Ruth 1-4
Memorize for Dec 9-Dec 30: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16*
