The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, September 10. We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.
God Judges the Nations at Babel
Read: Genesis 11:1–9
Ask your child:
- What did God command the people to do? Be fruitful, multiply, and spread out across the earth
- Why did the people build the tower? To make a name for themselves
- Why did God confuse the languages? To limit their capacity for rebellion
Emphasize this principle: God opposes the proud. Therefore, we should humble ourselves and obey.
Practice:
- Turn from pride.
- Humbly obey the Lord.
Sing: “In My Life, Lord, Be Glorified”
Prepare for next week: Read Genesis 11:27–12:9
Memorize Aug 20-Sep 10: “So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” 2 Corinthians 5:9 (NIV)*
