Escape

We have so many creative residents who love to use their talents to express what God is doing in their lives. Sometimes this comes in the form of poetry, and today I would like to share with you a poem written by one of our current residents entitled, Escape:

Escape

What does it mean?

To get away. To run and run and run

Farther than you’ve ever gone

Going farther still.

But do we look back?

What do we do when we regret what we have done?

When our escape becomes our focus of worship

A hideous, menacing god we can no longer control.

What now?

When our running leads us nowhere.

Escape from what? The emptiness inside?

The darkness that threatens to overwhelm my soul?

I cannot outrun something that lies within.

Deeper than I’ve dared to look, but not too deep for a Savior.

Surrender.

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
