Don’t go to church this Sunday if attending the worship service is going to be the extent of your participation this week. Don’t even bother. If you’re going to be part of the demographic that just comes and sits, consumes, and then leaves, then you’re actively moving our church body in the opposite direction it should be going. Let me explain.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” –Jesus (Matthew 22:37-40)
Natural Opportunities
Our staff works hard to brainstorm and provide natural opportunities for you to do what Jesus described here. Cause let’s face it, if you know the mission statement of our church, you’re probably intimidated out of your mind. I mean come on!…winning people to Jesus Christ and equipping them to become more faithful disciples…that sounds like something you pay our church staff to do, right?!…Wrong. We’re all to be a part of that process, but the good news is that we’re all in it together. You don’t have to be a lone ranger. And that’s where some of the natural opportunities come in.
Love God
Sunday morning worship. Yes, we want you to consistently come and be a part of our Sunday morning worship services. We want you to be drawn closer to the heart of God. We want you to personally be equipped to be a more faithful disciple. We want you to be reminded of the access you have to the Holy Spirit who can give you the power to live out your faith throughout the week. But we don’t want your involvement in our mission to end there. This time of worship should be a catalyst that you carry with you into your week as you turn around and invest into people’s lives and then invite them to come, “taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Ps. 34:8)
Love Others
Let your investment in others start with Adult Bible Fellowship. This is the next natural opportunity to live out your faith…to love your neighbor as yourself. You’re already here on Sunday morning, but you have a choice. You can come and leave. Or you can come, invest in some people, and then leave. It’s that simple. ABFs are designed to allow you to rub shoulders with other people in our church in a way that’s not possible in our worship services. You’re gonna have the opportunity to encourage and even equip someone in their faith journey simply as a result of living life with them.
The list could go on of ways to be part of our mission, but the key is intentionality. We’re doing our best to provide natural opportunities for you to live out your mission. If you’re not intentionally, proactively pursuing the mission, then chances are you’re passively working against it.
