Each Wednesday afternoon we begin our staff meetings by sharing reports of ways God has blessed us in our personal lives and ministries. We then pray together and thank the Lord for the joy of serving Him together. Our experience is that spending time praising the Lord helps us keep the rest of the meeting agenda in perspective. Administration and problem-solving are always more meaningful when done in the context of the way God blesses our attempts to serve Him.
During our sharing time this week, two staff members reported that one of their parents had trusted Christ during the previous week. That is in addition to the twenty-three men and women who indicated on their response cards at last week’s Lafayette Passion Play that they trusted Christ as a result of the gospel presentation they received. As I contemplated their reports, I was struck with how amazing it was that two of our staff members’ parents came to know Christ in the same week.
Every Day is Harvest Day
A biblical event we often consider each fall is when Jesus said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest (Matthew 9:37-38).” The reminder for me this week was that in God’s economy, every day is harvest day. I guess we should expect nothing less from “the Lord of the harvest.”
Get Busy – Don’t Miss the Harvest
Are you really convinced that God is still drawing men and women to Himself? Are you praying for specific men and women in your life who do not yet know the Lord with faith and fervency? Are you looking for opportunities to tell others about about Christ and encourage them to repent and believe in Him? Please do not put off an opportunity to be a faithful ambassador. With our God, every day is harvest day.
