Over the years, we have had international interns from many countries, including Canada, Romania, Germany, Uganda and Mexico. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We are thankful for these opportunities to train women from around the world in knowing and ministering God\u2019s Word to others through biblical counseling.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>In July, the Lord sent us two international interns.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Hear from Rosemary today and learn how the Lord brought her from the other side of the world to serve and grow at VOH.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My name is Rosemary Okpo. I am from Arochukwu in Abia State, Nigeria.\u00a0 I am a teacher by profession.\u00a0Before VOH, I was teaching.\u00a0I’ve taught in two different schools, one of\u00a0which was Presbyterian Nursery & Primary School. I was\u00a0also a children’s teacher in my local church.\u00a0 My love for teaching children led me into\u00a0establishing a pre-school known as “Our Lord Cares School.”\u00a0 The school\u2019s intention was to\u00a0inculcate godliness\u00a0and contentment\u00a0in children before their\u00a0primary school age.\u00a0 I\u00a0have\u00a0also led a group of\u00a0women\u00a0known as (WM)\u00a0and girls popularly call\u00a0“Missionette”\u00a0in my local church.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>I have been a religious person for a long period of time. Having been born into a Christian family,\u00a0I sang in choir, worked in the Sunday school, and attended different church programs. I was also baptized but I did not know Jesus. I encountered the Lord personally when my group of women were practicing for evangelism outreach. That was the time I deliberately invited Christ into my life.\u00a0Thereafter, I felt peace like a river and my life dramatically\u00a0changed for better.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>How did you hear about the VOH internship? Why were you interested in coming here to serve for a year?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Actually I was introduced to VOH by my husband who happened to learn about VOH through online.\u00a0 After a careful consideration\u00a0of my passion\u00a0in helping\u00a0vulnerable women and young girls, he decided to sponsor me to come to VOH.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Why were you interested in coming to VOH to serve for a year?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What interested me\u00a0into coming to serve was the fact that VOH offers opportunities and hope through biblical counseling to women with such challenges as unplanned pregnancies, drug and alcoholism, suicide thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, and depression.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having been spurred by the testimonies of the past graduated residents, I’m excited to learn and also to witness the transforming power of biblical counseling over the life of the present residents.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>If we had a fun themed day at VOH, what would you want the theme to be and why?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If we had a fun themed day at VOH, I would like the theme to be “Tales by Moon Light”\u00a0because we would sit in a circle and tell interesting stories.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are blessed to have Rosemary learning and serving here and are excited for future ministry opportunities she will have in her home church and community in Nigeria!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
