One thing we at VOH are so passionate about is our internship program. Twice a year in January and July, we welcome 6 new interns to our team to come and work with us for a whole year to learn more about Biblical Counseling and receive training to help other hurting women. Our interns are able to sit in on counseling session and play a huge part in our residents\u2019 lives as they work closely with them. Our interns are an amazing blessing to us, and it is always so neat to see who God brings our way.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, we had the privilege of welcoming a new group of interns to our team! So far they have completed rigorous training and have shown great leadership and dedication to loving our residents. For the next few weeks, we will be introducing our new interns. We hope you are encouraged to hear their stories and how God has worked in their lives to bring them to the VOH ministry.<\/p>\n

Today, allow us to introduce you to Grace! Grace came to us from Ontario, Canada, and we are thrilled to have her join our team. Please enjoy hearing Grace\u2019s story!<\/p>\n

\u201cI became a believer when I was 4 years old. <\/em>It was a normal week day\u00a0evening like any other with my whole family\u00a0sitting around the dinner table talking and laughing together, when\u00a0my parents asked us kids to share what we have been learning in our different Sunday school classes. My\u00a0brother shared first, and though I can’t remember what he said I am sure it was good. Next,\u00a0my sister\u00a0shared about how she has been learning about Heaven and hell,\u00a0and I was immediately\u00a0captivated by what she was talking about. \u2018Was\u00a0this real?\u2019 \u2018Where am I going when I die?\u2019 \u2018I want to be with Jesus and my family!\u2019 these thoughts flooded my young\u00a0four year\u00a0mind. So as my parents dismissed us kids to clean up I stayed sitting in my chair and asked my parents to better explain what my sister had been sharing\u00a0about. They\u00a0lovingly shared the Gospel with me and right then and there I prayed with them and asked Jesus to be my\u00a0personal Savior.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

My mom attended the Biblical Counseling Training Conference at Faith Church last February and told me about the\u00a0internship\u00a0opportunity,\u00a0so\u00a0I started thinking and praying about it, and then to my\u00a0surprise just a few\u00a0months later\u00a0Steve Viars came to the Bible College I was attending (Word of Life Bible Institute) and taught a week long\u00a0class on Biblical Counseling where I heard again\u00a0about Vision of Hope and all that Faith Church is doing\u00a0in Lafayette and I became very\u00a0interested in the\u00a0ministry being done here and applied to be an intern.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am excited to learn how to better\u00a0serve and love those who have been hurt\/are hurting. I feel so grateful to have the\u00a0privilege\u00a0of seeing God’s\u00a0transforming power first hand!\u00a0I am still unsure of where the Lord will lead me pertaining to future career and ministry, but I am here at VOH to learn and grow so that wherever the Lord leads I will be better equipped to serve\u00a0Him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Awesome story, Grace! What a wonderful reminder that God desires to use believers to further His kingdom.<\/p>\n
