What’s in a Name?<\/h2>\nWhat’s in a Name?<\/h2>\nA very famous question posed by William Shakespeare in the play Romeo and Juliet<\/em> has been used by many people in a sarcastic way when mistakenly referencing someone else.\u00a0 Could the same question be posed by someone when they think of Faith Christian School \u2013 so, what\u2019s in a name??\u00a0 Three distinct\u00a0 words make up the title of our school, and they are both related and independent of each other.<\/p>\n FCS was started in 1997 with 48 students and 6 full-time teachers and staff members.\u00a0 There was a lot of FAITH<\/strong> involved in families sending their children to a school that was starting up and in teachers that moved to Lafayette to teach and work at a school that did not even exist \u2013 FAITH<\/strong>.\u00a0 There was also a lot of FAITH<\/strong> present in the lives and prayers of many people in our church family who sacrificed their gifts, talents, and abilities to help build a new building and help the school get off the ground .<\/p>\n One thing that sets FCS apart from other schools is the fact that we are inherently Christian in everything we do<\/strong>.\u00a0 We want our students to be taught from a biblical worldview not only in our classes, but also out on the soccer field and volleyball court.\u00a0 We want our students in choir, band, art, and drama classes<\/em> to use their talents to magnify Christ in everything they do.\u00a0 When students walk across the stage at graduation, we obviously want them to be prepared for the next stage of their life, but we also want them to have a deeper love and appreciation for their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n A challenge that small schools face is to do EVERYTHING <\/strong>in an excellent manner because of the amount of responsibilities that are required of teachers and staff.\u00a0 One thing that we have to get \u201cright\u201d is our academics.\u00a0 We want our students to be excited to learn.\u00a0 We hope that we are producing students who are good thinkers, provocative writers, and WORLD CHANGERS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Our academic program provides our students with the opportunity to excel at any college they may seek to attend.\u00a0 Our elementary program desires that our students love reading and for them to become proficient in the areas of comprehension, thinking and reasoning.\u00a0 As students grow, it becomes important for them to be proficient in computers and grammar along with an enjoyment of cultural studies and being introduced to new concepts in math and science.<\/p>\nFaith<\/h2>\n
