I love reading!\u00a0 Just this morning I saw four elementary students, who were at school early, using their extra time to read great books.\u00a0 It was a joy to me as their principal to\u00a0hear them tell me about what they were reading and to praise them for reading.\u00a0 Students at Faith Christian School can now benefit from\u00a0greatly improved versions of two popular, scientifically-based,\u00a0and effective reading, and reading assessment programs.\u00a0 Accelerated Reader Enterprise and STAR Reading Enterprise (both from Renaissance Learning<\/a>) provide access to a much broader array of reading materials and progress monitoring tools for FCS students.<\/p>\n

Better Quizzing, More Books<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0old “desktop versions” of these programs have finally been replaced by\u00a0the internet-hosted “Enterprise”versions.\u00a0 We are glad to join\u00a0other schools who had already taken this step.\u00a0 This means that students can take their AR reading comprehension quizzes on any internet-connected computer on campus, with teacher supervision.\u00a0 The upgrade also means students can take quizzes and earn AR points from over 130,000 books!\u00a0 As new quizzes are added for other books, our students have immediate access to them, too.\u00a0 Therefore, students\u00a0will find more reading material at a suitable reading level and an engaging interest level.<\/p>\n

Parent Connection<\/h2>\n

More reading plus parent involvement leads to better reading, and better reading leads to better learning!<\/p>\n<\/div> Parents and teachers can also monitor students’ progress from home, school, or anywhere through the internet using Renaissance Home Connect.\u00a0 Instructions about how to use Home Connect will be sent out soon to school families, and is available on our Accelerated Reader<\/a> page.\u00a0 Parents can\u00a0now be involved much more easily in choosing books,\u00a0celebrating achievement, or guiding practice.\u00a0 More reading plus parent involvement leads to better reading, and better reading leads to better learning!<\/p>\n
