overhead picture\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a>The Role of Fine Arts<\/h2>\n<p>As human beings made in the image of our Creator God, we have the privilege and Biblical mandate to \u201ccreate\u201d and cultivate in this world for God\u2019s glory.\u00a0<strong> Music and art provide a delightful and meaningful way to be good stewards <\/strong>of this role.\u00a0 Fine arts are significant features of each of our four core areas at FCS (spiritual, academic, physical, and vocational).\u00a0 Plus, kids seem to be naturally interested and so creative in these subjects.\u00a0 First, let\u2019s focus on the musical experiences that FCS elementary students have the opportunity to enjoy.<\/p>\n<h2>Group and Individual Classes<\/h2>\n<p>Music classes for kindergarten through sixth grades meet twice weekly. \u00a0<!--more-->Preschoolers also get to have their own music classes!\u00a0 Our <strong>qualified music teachers<\/strong> focus on biblical integration, teaching both fun and meaningful songs, music theory, music history and appreciation, as well as introduction to instruments.\u00a0 Students can participate in our <strong>elementary bands<\/strong> starting in 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade even if they are complete beginners.\u00a0 <strong>Private lessons<\/strong> are also available for a fee, and often those can be scheduled during the school day.\u00a0 On a personal level, my own sons are benefiting greatly from all this and enjoy their tuba, trombone, piano, and singing!<\/p>\n<h2>Special Programs and Community Service<\/h2>\n<p>FCS elementary and preschool <strong>students perform in several programs each year<\/strong>, including Grandparents\u2019 Day and the Christmas and Spring programs.\u00a0 I regularly enjoy praying for our students during performances\u2014specifically that they would live out the message of their songs and delight in loving and serving the Lord their whole lives.\u00a0 One or two grades at a time also get to <strong>serve others and proclaim God\u2019s glory by singing <\/strong>at places like St. Anthony\u2019s Health Care, Rosewalk Village, the Purdue Memorial Union by the Christmas tree, or at homes of shut-ins.\u00a0 Fifth and sixth graders perform <strong>instrumental or vocal solos and ensembles at ISSMA<\/strong> and earn lots of high ratings.<\/p>\n<p>The mission of Faith Christian School is to &#8220;help parents raise their children to live effectively in God&#8217;s world.&#8221; At FCS, we believe that <strong>&#8220;solid foundations equal strong futures.&#8221;<\/strong> Our music department is a vital piece of those foundations.\u00a0 We are very thankful for Mr. Wright, Miss Mullis, and Miss Hill!\u00a0 In a following post, we will focus on visual arts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Role of Fine Arts As human beings made in the image of our Creator God, we have the privilege and Biblical mandate to \u201ccreate\u201d and cultivate in this world for God\u2019s glory.\u00a0 Music and art provide a delightful and meaningful way to be good stewards of this role.\u00a0 Fine arts are significant features of&#8230; <a class=\"read-more\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.faithlafayette.org\/school\/building-foundations-through-fine-arts-at-fcs-elementary\/\">read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0},"categories":[260],"tags":[4208,4206,4207,4205],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.14 -
