Teachers do special things in Bible like the Romans Road.\u00a0 One of the things we did was try to hit a target using a flying object.\u00a0 No one was able to hit a bull\u2019s eye.\u00a0 Mrs. Fox used that to show us, \u201cAll have sinned and fall short of the glory of God\u201d Romans 3:23.\u00a0\u00a0 We learned the Bible gives us directions like a roadmap about God\u2019s plan.\u00a0(Hannah)<\/em><\/p>\n On the last day of Reading Road Trip USA we dressed up and had a parade.\u00a0 Our class gathered in the hall and watched other classes go by.\u00a0 Then we got up and paraded down the halls.\u00a0 It was fun.\u00a0 After the parade we got a Popsicle.\u00a0 We loved Reading Road Trip! (Avry)<\/em><\/p>\n Reading Extravaganza was amazing and fun.\u00a0 Every day in the third grade we had a campfire and told tall tales.\u00a0 We talked about Pecos Bill, Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirl Wind, Mike Fink, Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan and Pinkerton the dog.\u00a0 We had snacks too.\u00a0 We had apples, gummies, cookies, apple dumplings and ice cream.\u00a0(Trinity)<\/em><\/p>\n We had an awesome week of Reading Road Trip USA following Betty Joe and Lucy across our country.\u00a0 Betty Jo and Lucy went to New York and went to the Hershey Store and the Statue of Liberty.\u00a0 Next they went to Pennsylvania and learned about the Liberty Bell.\u00a0 They ate Philly cheese steak sandwiches.\u00a0 Next they went to Montana and went hiking, they saw the Greens.\u00a0 Lastly they finished their trip in San Francisco, California.\u00a0(Payton L.)<\/em><\/p>\n My most favorite part was the parade.\u00a0\u00a0 We got to build our float using the customary measuring system.\u00a0 We built Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett.\u00a0 There was a lot of hyperbole in her story, such as she uses a skunk\u2019s scent for perfume.\u00a0 What a smell.\u00a0 We made a skunk to go along with her on our float.\u00a0 I loved making Sally.\u00a0(Sophia)<\/em><\/p>\n In Reading Road Trip U.S.A. we had a flea market with our buddies.\u00a0\u00a0 All through Reading Extravaganza we were able to earn coins for obeying.\u00a0 We could earn up to 5 coins.\u00a0 Then, we used those coins and bought and sold lots of things. Our teachers were the bank and they collected the coins.\u00a0 The All American Flea Market was very fun! (Hannah)<\/em><\/p>\n We learned the 50 Nifty State song.\u00a0 Mr. Jones taught it to us.\u00a0 We know our states better now because of this song.\u00a0 I really enjoyed learning the state song.\u00a0(Hannah)<\/em><\/p>\n During Reading Extravaganza we got do a lot of fun things.\u00a0 We had craft time.\u00a0 We made boats (for Mike Fink), Carmel Apples (for Johnny Appleseed), Eagles (for Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirl Wind), book marks and real apple dumplings.\u00a0 My favorite craft was making Mike Fink\u2019s boat.\u00a0(Payton S.)<\/em><\/p>\n During Reading Extravaganza, we learn about different writing strategies with an author study.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Next, using those strategies, we publish our very own book!\u00a0 This year we are writing a tall tale.\u00a0\u00a0 Each student gets to create himself or herself as a tall tale character and write adventures using hyperbole & similes.\u00a0(Mrs. Fox)<\/em><\/p>\n I am thankful for Reading Extravaganza because we can focus the curriculum around one central theme.\u00a0 Room & hallway decorations, fun crafts, food, flea markets, songs, and even silly tourists peak our students\u2019 interests of our great country and stories written about it.\u00a0 The third grade has learned\u00a0 geography by learning about the 50 states, math by using the customary unit of measurement of America, English skills our author\u00a0 used like hyperbole, similes, and exaggeration, and, of course, reading skills by reading great literature!\u00a0\u00a0 What an amazing trip we had studying our great nation during Reading Road Trip U.S.A.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"#2 All American Parade<\/h2>\n
