Every year, FCS puts on our Christmas Spectacular Concerts. FCS as a whole has five \u201cChristmas Spectacular\u201d concerts each year:\u00a0 two preschool concerts (East and West), two elementary concerts, and a Junior High\/High School Concert.<\/p>\n

I’ve been given the great opportunity to lead our Elementary Christmas Spectaculars. They\u2019re such a fun way for me to lead our elementary students in worship of our Savior. As I look for music, I see all kinds of songs for the holidays. From \u201cThe Christmas Song\u201d to \u201cGrandma got run over by a reindeer,\u201d there are numerous fun<\/em> options for Christmas music.<\/p>\n

Focus on Christ through Worship<\/h2>\n

But I think it\u2019s crucial that every song that we choose for our Christmas concert be focused on Christ. After all, He\u2019s the reason why our school exists in the first place. We\u2019re here to partner with our parents in teaching children to be like Christ.<\/p>\n

In my mind, a Christ-like child is a worshiping<\/b> child. If we are going to prepare our children to go out into the world and be a witness for their savior, we need to teach them who that savior is–why he came—how he came. Without a firm grasp on these basic, yet essential, truths about the Christmas story, how can we expect them to share it?<\/p>\n

Favorite Songs<\/h2>\n

One of our first grader\u2019s favorite songs this year is \u201cGo Tell it on the Mountain.\u201d \u00a0It\u2019s an upbeat reminder to them that one of the most unique opportunities at Christmas is that people are so open to hear about Jesus. The fourth through sixth graders are singing a similar song titled, \u201cLight of the World.\u201d There\u2019s nothing better than helping our students to know that they have a solemn responsibility to share the great knowledge of their savior who was born as a baby\u2014just to save them from their sin.<\/p>\n

In Their Own Words<\/h2>\n

Here is what some of our sixth graders think about our Christmas concerts in their own words:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think performing in front of people is important because even if later in life you don\u2019t become a singer, you will always have to present things to people.\u201d<\/em> – Stephen<\/p>\n

\u201cI like our Christmas music because it reminds me a lot about Jesus and why He was born\u201d<\/em> – Chantz<\/p>\n

\u201cPerforming is important because it helps you get used to speaking\/singing in front of people\u201d<\/em> – Taylor<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited about this year\u2019s performance\u2026 I get to perform with my friends.\u201d<\/em> Andrew<\/p>\n

We\u2019d love for everyone to come out on Thursday, December 19th, at 6:30 PM for the lower elementary and 7:40 PM for the upper elementary concert,\u00a0and worship our savior with us.
