Every week we have chapel for the Jr. and Sr. high students. We\u00a0generally have a time of reflection, prayer, worship, and a message. Our chapels have been really encouraging, as well as challenging, to our spiritual growth. In the last chapel of each month, we try to have a student life focus with\u00a0student challenges, random drawings, and good clean fun.<\/p>\n
For one of the special drawings, we\u00a0choose 5 students to come to my house for dinner. We\u00a0call these meetings “Dinner at the Grass Hut.”<\/strong> While I wasn’t sure what the students’ reactions would be\u00a0in having dinner at their Principal’s house, I have been pleasantly surprised. We also try to work the meal around a theme\u00a0for the evening. So far we have had a Hawaiian theme, an Italian theme, and a Mexican theme. Every student that was selected has come to dinner! We have tried to have a good meal and also a time of fellowship and getting-to-know you activities.<\/p>\n The Grass Hut times have allowed for some good interaction with students in different grades as well as\u00a0\u00a0the opportunity to break the student body down into smaller groups. I’ve also received positive feedback from parents as they have been appreciative of the opportunity for their child to get to know other students that attend FCS. The Grass Hut is alive and well and we have come to look forward to this activity each month!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
