We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Elijah and the Prophets of Baal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> 1 Kings 17:1; 18:17\u201346<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why did Elijah call the Israelites and priests of Baal to Mount Carmel? <em>Elijah challenged the priests of Baal to a contest that would to reveal which god was truly God.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>How was God glorified through the events on Mount Carmel? <em>Baal was proven to be a false god, while the Lord was shown to be the only true God. Idolatry was judged and the Lord exalted.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emphasize this principle: <\/strong>The Lord is the only true God. Therefore, we should worship him alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate God\u2019s supremacy by worshiping Him alone.<\/li>\n<li>Tell others that the Lord is the only true God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cGreat Is Thy Faithfulness\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prepare for next week: <\/strong>2 Kings 21-25<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize for Feb 9-Mar 2:<\/strong> \u201c<strong>Your word I have treasured in my heart<\/strong>, that I may not sin against You.\u201d<strong> Psalm 119:11<\/strong>*<\/p>\n<p>* Preschool verse in bold<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, February 22.
