We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>John Prepares the Way for Jesus<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> Matthew 3:1-17<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What was John the Baptist\u2019s message? <em>Repent and prepare to receive the Messiah.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Why wouldn\u2019t John baptize the Pharisees and Sadducees? <em>They didn\u2019t believe they needed to repent.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Why was Jesus baptized? <em>Though Jesus was sinless, He was fulfilling the Father\u2019s plan by demonstrating His willingness to be counted as a sinner.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Emphasize this principle: <\/strong>God sent His Son. Therefore, we should repent and prepare the way for His work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acknowledge sin and repent by trusting Jesus for salvation.<\/li>\n<li>Live to please God the Father on a daily basis.<\/li>\n<li>Share the hope of the gospel with others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cLord, Be Glorified\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prepare for next week:<\/strong> Matthew 4:12-25<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize for Apr 13-May 4: <\/strong>\u201cBut God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that<strong> while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.\u201d Romans 5:8<\/strong>*<\/p>\n<p>* Preschool verse in bold<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, April 20.
