Jesus Defines Discipleship<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Read:<\/span><\/b> Matthew 16:13-17, 20-27<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ask your child:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • What did the Father reveal to Peter? <\/span>\u201cJesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • What does it mean to deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Christ? <\/span>Christians must crucify sinful desires and choose to please God.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Emphasize this principle: <\/span><\/b>Jesus rewards faithful choices. Therefore, we should deny ourselves and follow Him.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Practice:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Say \u201cno\u201d to sinful desires, and choose to please God instead.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Rejoice that Jesus will reward those who faithfully follow Him.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Sing: <\/span><\/b>\u201c<\/span>Change My Heart, O God\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
