John Prepares the Way for Jesus<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Read:<\/span><\/b> Matthew 3:1-17<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ask your child:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • What was John the Baptist\u2019s message? <\/span>Repent and prepare to receive the Messiah.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Why wouldn\u2019t John baptize the Pharisees and Sadducees? <\/span>They didn\u2019t believe they needed to repent.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Why was Jesus baptized? <\/span>Though Jesus was sinless, He was fulfilling the Father\u2019s plan by demonstrating His willingness to be counted as a sinner.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Emphasize this principle: <\/span><\/b>God sent His Son. Therefore, we should repent and prepare the way for His work.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Practice:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Acknowledge sin and repent by trusting Jesus for salvation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Live to please God the Father on a daily basis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Share the hope of the gospel with others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Sing: <\/span><\/b>\u201cLord, Be Glorified\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
