Elijah and the Prophets of Baal<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Read:<\/span><\/b> 1 Kings 17:1; 18:17\u201346<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ask your child:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Why did Elijah call the Israelites and priests of Baal to Mount Carmel? <\/span>Elijah challenged the priests of Baal to a contest that would to reveal which god was truly God.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • How was God glorified through the events on Mount Carmel? <\/span>Baal was proven to be a false god, while the Lord was shown to be the only true God. Idolatry was judged and the Lord exalted.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Emphasize this principle: <\/span><\/b>The Lord is the only true God. Therefore, we should worship him alone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Practice:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Demonstrate God\u2019s supremacy by worshiping Him alone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Tell others that the Lord is the only true God.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Sing: <\/span><\/b>\u201cGreat Is Thy Faithfulness\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Memorize for Feb 25-Mar 31:<\/span><\/b> \u201cDo not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. <\/span>Let us not lose heart in doing good<\/span><\/b>, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.\u201d Galatians 6:7-9*<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
