Israel and Its King Reject God<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Read:<\/span><\/b>\u202f1 Samuel 8-12; 13:1-14; 15:1-34<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ask your child:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Why was Israel\u2019s request for a king sinful? <\/span>They rejected God as King and wanted to be like the sinful nations around them.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • What was wrong with Saul\u2019s actions? <\/span>Saul was concerned with serving himself more than God and disregarded God\u2019s instructions.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Emphasize this principle:\u202f<\/span><\/b>The Lord is our King. Therefore, we should submit to his rule over our lives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Practice:\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Trust God when life gets hard.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Obey God completely as your King.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Repent of sins quickly.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Sing:<\/span><\/b>\u202f\u201cTrust and Obey\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
