We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>God Chooses Jacob Over Esau<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> Genesis 25:21-26; 27:1-29<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What were the names of Isaac and Rebekah\u2019s twin boys? <em>Esau, who liked to hunt, and Jacob, who liked to cook<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Why did Esau sell his birthright to Jacob? <em>Esau valued momentary pleasure over long-term treasure.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>How did Jacob get the family blessing? <em>Jacob wore Esau\u2019s clothes and put goat hair on his arms.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emphasize this principle<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>God is in control. Therefore, we should trust Him and submit to his plan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Praise God for His sovereign plan.<\/li>\n<li>Obey God by following His Word and serving others.<\/li>\n<li>Trust God by patiently waiting on the Lord\u2019s timing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sing<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>\u201cGod Is So Good\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prepare for next week<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>Genesis 37; Genesis 39-50<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize Sep 25-Oct 23<\/strong><strong>: \u201cFor the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword<\/strong>, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.\u201d <strong>Hebrews 4:12<\/strong>*<\/p>\n<p>* Preschool verse in bold print<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, October 2.
