We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>King David Receives God\u2019s Promise<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong>\u00a02 Samuel 1:1-2:4a; 7<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How did God keep His promise to David to make him king? <em>After Saul\u2019s death, David became king over Judah, and later, all Israel.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What promise did God make to David? <em>Among other incredible things,<\/em> <em>God promised to establish the throne of one David\u2019s descendants (Jesus) forever.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emphasize this principle:\u00a0<\/strong>God keeps incredible promises. Therefore, we should trust and honor him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trust God to keep His promises.<\/li>\n<li>Thank God for His grace toward sinners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cGod Is So Good\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prepare for next week:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>1 Kings 2, 3, 8, 9, 11<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize for Jan 9-Feb 6:<\/strong> \u201c&#8230;let us consider how to <strong>stimulate one another to love and good deeds<\/strong>, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.\u201d<strong> Hebrews 10:24<\/strong>-25*<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, February 6.
