We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Israel and Its King Reject God<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong>\u00a01 Samuel 8-15<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why was Israel\u2019s request for a king sinful? <em>They rejected God as King and wanted to be like the sinful nations around them.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What was wrong with Saul\u2019s actions? <em>Saul was concerned with serving himself more than God and disregarded God\u2019s instructions.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emphasize this principle:\u00a0<\/strong>The Lord is our King. Therefore, we should submit to his rule over our lives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trust God when life gets hard.<\/li>\n<li>Obey God completely as your King.<\/li>\n<li>Repent of sins quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Praise:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cTrust and Obey\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prepare for next week:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>1 Samuel 16-17<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize for\u00a0Jan 31-Feb 21:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>Let no\u00a0unwholesome word proceed from your mouth<\/strong>, but only such\u00a0a word\u00a0as is good for\u00a0edification according to the need\u00a0of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.\u201d<strong> Ephesians 4:29<\/strong>*<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, February 14.
