We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>God Judges Jeroboam<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Read: <\/strong>1 Kings 11:35-38; 12:1\u201333; 14:1\u201318<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who became leader of Israel after Solomon?<em> Rehoboam<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What happened when Rehoboam increased the labor of the 10 northern tribes? <em>The kingdom was divided into two nations\u2014Israel and Judah.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Who became leader of the new northern nation? <em>Jeroboam<\/em><\/li>\n<li>How did Jeroboam sin? <em>He led Israel into greater idolatry.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What were the consequences of Jeroboam sin? <em>His son died, his dynasty was ended, and Israel would eventually be exiled.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emphasize this principle:<\/strong> God blesses obedience and judges rebellion. Therefore, we should obey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Praise God for providing examples that warn and instruct us.<\/li>\n<li>Humbly obey God\u2019s Word.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cHumble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prepare for next week:<\/strong> 1 Kings 17:1; 18:17\u201346<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize for Feb 9-Mar 8: <\/strong>\u201cNo temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.<strong> God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability<\/strong>, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.\u201d<strong> 1 Corinthians 10:13 <\/strong>(ESV)*<\/p>\n<p>* Preschool verse in bold<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, February 16.
