We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>God Sends Isaac and Tests Abraham<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> Genesis 17:15-17,19, 21; 21:1-8; 22:1-19<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sing:<\/strong> \u201cSeek Ye First\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask your child:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who was Isaac? <em>Abraham\u2019s promised son<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Why did God ask Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering? <em>To test Abraham and reveal the quality of his faith.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>How did Abraham pass the test? <em>By obeying everything God told him, demonstrating that he loved his God more than all else.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emphasize this principle:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>God wants first place in our lives. Therefore, we should give him our love and devotion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Praise God for keeping His promises.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate love for God by obeying His Word.<\/li>\n<li>Cultivate love for God through Bible study, prayer, and service.<\/li>\n<li>Display the character of God to others by keeping your promises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prepare:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Read Genesis 25:21-26; 27:1-29 before next week\u2019s lesson.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memorize for Sep 16 \u2013 Oct 7:<\/strong> \u201c<strong>All Scripture is inspired by God<\/strong> and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.\u201d <strong>2 Timothy 3:16<\/strong>-17<strong>*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>* Preschool verse in bold<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, September 23.
