We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jesus Confronts the Rich Young Ruler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Passage:\u00a0 <\/strong>Matthew 19:16\u201326<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principle:\u00a0 <\/strong>Believers are called to count the cost of eternal life and follow Christ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Praise:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cHumble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prompt:\u00a0 <\/strong>Ask your child these questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why did the rich young ruler come to Jesus?<\/li>\n<li>Why did the rich young ruler go away sad?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practice:\u00a0 <\/strong>Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By not trusting his own good works to please God and get to heaven.<\/li>\n<li>By asking Christ to reveal anything in his heart that he is unwilling to give up for Him.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This Week:\u00a0 <\/strong>As a family, read selected portions of Matthew 19:16\u201326.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Week:\u00a0 <\/strong>Matthew 20:1\u201316<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memory Verse:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cWith people [salvation] is impossible, but <strong>with God all things are possible.\u201d \u00a0Matthew 19:26b*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>* Preschool verse in bold print<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, July 31.
