We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>God Punishes Jeroboam<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Passage: <\/strong>1 Kings 12:1\u201333; 14:1\u201318<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principle: <\/strong>Christians enjoy the blessings of obedience to God\u2019s Word.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cHumble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prompt: <\/strong>Ask your child these questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What were the consequences of Jeroboam\u2019s disobedience?<\/li>\n<li>What were the consequences of Jeroboam\u2019s sin?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practice: <\/strong>Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By rejoicing in that God blesses those who humbly obey His Word.<\/li>\n<li>By realizing that God punishes those who disobey His Word.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This Week: <\/strong>As a family, read selected portions of 1 Kings 12:1\u201333; 14:1\u201318.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Week: <\/strong>1 Kings 17:1; 18:17\u201346<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memory Verse:<\/strong> \u201cFor <strong>everyone who exalts himself will be humbled<\/strong>, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.\u201d <strong>Luke 14:11<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*Preschool verse in bold print<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, October 18.
