We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>God Makes David King<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Passage: <\/strong>2 Samuel 1:1\u20132:4a<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principle: <\/strong>God\u2019s plan includes the death of the righteous and the wicked.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cThis Is the Day\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prompt: <\/strong>Ask your child these questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How did David react to the death of Saul and Jonathan?<\/li>\n<li>How did God keep His promise to David to make him king?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practice: <\/strong>Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By trusting that God has control over life and death.<\/li>\n<li>By praying for the salvation of unbelievers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This Week: <\/strong>As a family, read selected portions of 2 Samuel 1:1\u20132:4a.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next week: <\/strong>2 Samuel 7<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memory Verse: <\/strong><strong>Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. <\/strong>In all your ways acknowledge Him,and He will make your paths straight.<strong> Proverbs 3:5<\/strong>-6<\/p>\n<p>*Preschool verse in bold print<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following lesson was taught in our children\u2019s Sunday School classes on Sunday, September 6.
