We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday\u2019s lesson with your family.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Israel Rejects God as King<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Passage: <\/strong>1 Samuel 8\u201312<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principle: <\/strong>God is King, and we must submit to Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Praise: <\/strong>\u201cHe Reigns\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prompt: <\/strong>Ask your child these questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why was Israel\u2019s request for a king sinful?<\/li>\n<li>What were God\u2019s conditions for blessing Israel and their new king?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practice: <\/strong>Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By trusting God, not human strength or wisdom, in trying times.<\/li>\n<li>By obeying God, who is King<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This Week: <\/strong>As a family, read selected portions of 1 Samuel 8\u201312.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Week: <\/strong>1 Samuel 13:1\u201314; 15:1\u201334<\/p>\n<p><strong>Memory Verse:<\/strong><strong> It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
