Report cards, final exams, check-ups at the doctor\u2019s office\u2014none of these probably evokes especially fond memories in your mind.\u00a0 For some, they may even conjure memories of panic or a pit-in-the-stomach feeling.\u00a0 And yet, all of these \u201cinstruments of torture\u201d are an engrained part of our society.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because we know that human nature demands evaluation. \u00a0How much would children learn if they never had to face a quiz, test, or report card?\u00a0 How many adults would get on a treadmill if it weren\u2019t for the doctor\u2019s urging at their yearly physical?<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s face it.\u00a0 We get more done when someone is urging us forward.<\/p>\n
On a similar note, we often improve what we do when a second set of eyes points out things we would normally miss.\u00a0 That\u2019s one of the beauties of being a part of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12). \u00a0It gives us access to invaluable advice from our brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n
So, what does all this mean for us as teachers?\u00a0 It means that we should be seeking outside input on where we can improve as teachers.\u00a0 What are some ways you can do this?<\/p>\n
