The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, March 5. We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.
God Punishes Judah
Read: 2 Kings 21-25
Ask your child:
- Why did God punish Judah? God’s people had strayed into ever increasing levels of rebellion and idolatry.
- What did God promise would happen after Israel repented? God promised to hear them and restore them to the land.
Emphasize this principle: “God judges sin. Therefore we should flee idolatry.”
Practice:
- Hate sin as God does.
- Repent from sin and ask God for forgiveness.
Sing: “Blessed Be the Name of the Lord”
Prepare for next week: Jonah 1-4
Memorize for Feb 12-Mar 12: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)*
