The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, June 2. We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.
Read: Matthew 16:13-17, 20-27
Ask your child:
- What did the Father reveal to Peter? “Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.”
- What does it mean to deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Christ? Christians must crucify sinful desires and choose to please God.
Emphasize this principle: Jesus rewards faithful choices. Therefore, we should deny ourselves and follow Him.
Practice:
- Say “no” to sinful desires, and choose to please God.
- Rejoice that Jesus will reward those who faithfully follow Him.
Praise: “Change My Heart, O God”
Prepare for next week: Matthew 25:14-30
Memorize for June 2-23: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
