When did it become more important to manage a company than to manage a home? \u00a0Why is a woman seen as contributing to society only when she does the exact same things as a man?\u00a0 Does a woman\u2019s value as a person increase because she is a CEO of a company instead of a family?\u00a0 Does God value men or women based upon their profit results or the number of people they command?\u00a0 Or is that a cultural thing?\u00a0 And are we buying into this?<\/p>\n

The \u201cModel\u201d Woman<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Maybe you have bought into it if the following description is your concept of a “model woman”:\u00a0\u00a0 high position in a company, wonderful childcare for the kids, able to handle negotiating a very high pressure contract while leaving at lunch to meet her child for a field trip, then make it home and put dinner together, enjoy family time, get the kids to bed, and relax with her executive husband.\u00a0 She is the epitome of composure and contentment!<\/p>\n

Do you really know any women like that?\u00a0 Really? \u00a0Or, do you know women who are clamoring to achieve all of that simultaneously while families are in chaos and confusion?\u00a0 And, if the woman is striving to achieve all of that, what are men doing\u2014playing video games, watching sports, and drinking beer<\/a>?<\/p>\n

God\u2019s Design for Women<\/strong><\/h2>\n

God made an important statement by choosing to make Eve out of Adam\u2019s rib.\u00a0 She was truly a part of him \u2013 \u201cbone of his bone, flesh of his flesh\u201d \u2013 and was close enough to him to be his intimate ally.\u00a0 Together as husband and wife, they were to be coregents over creation.\u00a0 And this level of closeness and \u201csameness\u201d would be the cure for his (and her) loneliness.<\/p>\n

Genesis 2:18 specifically states that she was to be Adam\u2019s helper<\/em>.\u00a0 Oh no! That is where the \u201crub\u201d is.\u00a0 See…God does view Adam more highly, right?<\/p>\n

Wrong!\u00a0 God does not place any value distinction upon either male or female in defining their roles.\u00a0 It is only our society that somehow distorts the role of a helper into some kind of inferior position.\u00a0 God did not.<\/p>\n

A Helper is a Divine Role<\/strong><\/h2>\n

What God said distinctively about the first woman \u2013 and all women in many other places in Scripture \u2013 is that they were designed to be helpers.\u00a0 \u00a0The original word for \u201chelper\u201d is\u00a0EZER (in Heberw) <\/em>and it is used 21 times in the Old Testament alone.\u00a0 Sixteen of those refer to God.\u00a0 A couple of them are found in Psalm 33:20 and Psalm 70:5.\u00a0 The helper in these verses is God Himself!\u00a0\u00a0 Just as God is our\u00a0ezer<\/em>, women have the privilege of being an\u00a0ezer<\/em> to their husbands and others! God helps us because\u2026 well, because we NEED help!\u00a0 And in some unique way He designed women to display that part of His character to the world.<\/p>\n

True Value<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Our culture claims to exalt and liberate women from antiquated roles.\u00a0\u00a0 Here is a question for those that have bought into the world\u2019s value system:\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cHow is a woman exalted when her value is found in doing everything that a man typically does?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Isn\u2019t this simply elevating the typical function of men?\u00a0 To me this sounds like good old fashioned male chauvinism that is alive and well in \u201cmodern society.\u201d<\/p>\n

The role that God designed for a wife is so undervalued today. \u00a0But it is not so with God. \u00a0I pray that understanding the privilege of displaying part of His character in such a unique way will motivate women to revel in their design and use it for God’s glory!<\/p>\n[Contributions by Janet Aucoin]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
