When people experience God\u2019s working in their lives, they want to tell others \u2013 as many as possible and through whatever means are available.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An Example<\/strong> | The Lion King (Daniel 6:25-27)<\/h2>\n

The following passage takes place after King Darius learns that God delivered Daniel from the lions\u2019 den:<\/p>\n

25\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language\u00a0in all the earth:<\/p>\n

\u201cMay you prosper greatly!<\/p>\n

26\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u201cI issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence\u00a0the God of Daniel.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor he is the living God
\nand he endures forever;
\nhis kingdom will not be destroyed,
\nhis dominion will never end.
\n27\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>He rescues and he saves;
\nhe performs signs and wonders
\nin the heavens and on the earth.
\nHe has rescued Daniel
\nfrom the power of the lions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three Principles<\/strong> | Exalt God by Encouraging Others<\/h2>\n

To whom did King Darius write? <\/strong>All the nations and peoples of every language\u00a0in all the earth<\/em> sounds like social media, right?! Our reach today is greater than a king\u2019s back then. Let\u2019s take advantage of that fact.<\/p>\n

How did he start?<\/strong> May you prosper greatly!<\/em> It\u2019s a lot easier to win friends and influence people for Christ when using your social media accounts to build up others (1 Thessalonians 5:11).<\/p>\n

What was his focus? <\/strong>The living God endures\u2026rescues\u2026saves\u2026performs signs and wonders\u2026<\/em> Proclaiming the power of God will do more good in and for this world than ____________ (cute cat videos, advocating for your political viewpoint, cheering on your favorite team, etc.).<\/p>\n

As Jonathan Smith states it in his article, Actually, Social Media <\/em>Really Is Rocket Science,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

What has impressed me the most is the passion NASA has to share its message, and it makes me wonder if the church has the same passion about its message? Does the church even know what its message is, and does it know how to effectively use social media to communicate that message? (7)<\/p>\n

While we can\u2019t \u201cissue a decree\u201d like King Darius (nor would we want to :-), following are some ideas that can help those who want to truly use social media for Go(o)d.<\/p>\n

Two Suggestions<\/strong> | Loving Leadership<\/h2>\n

Share how the Lord is working in your life. <\/strong>The Psalmist put it like this: \u201cHe put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD\u201d (Psalm 40:3). Share a scripture passage, a YouTube video of a worship song, or a picture from your child\u2019s baptism. Let others hear\/see your<\/em> new song so that your<\/em> friends and family can see and fear and trust in the Lord.<\/p>\n

Invite others to join you at church and church-related events. <\/strong>As events are posted on our church\u2019s Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> accounts, share those on your timeline\/feed \u2013 but don\u2019t forget to include a personal note that explains why that event is important to you.<\/p>\n

Remember, it\u2019s your relationship with the Lord and with those individuals that will help encourage them in their search for faith and\/or in their own walk of faith, not just the fact that an event is available. [Also, whenever possible put a call-to-action at the end of a post, especially an Instagram post: e.g., \u201cLink in bio for our service times.\u201d]\n
