They provide useful advice about activities and personal health. But before you resort to Google, ask yourself:\u00a0What does God\u2019s Word have to say about loneliness and how to overcome it?<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In writing about loneliness, Dr. Bob Smith, identified the following\u00a0biblical solutions for loneliness<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Work on your personal relationship with the Lord.<\/strong><br \/>\nIn James 4:8 the reader is told to \u201c<em>Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.<\/em>\u201d Consider studying passages about God\u2019s character. Learn how His control of the situations you are facing can help you to become more Christ-like. While you may feel alone, God is never far from you.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Consider aloneness from God\u2019s perspective. <\/strong><br \/>\nRomans 8:28 tells us that \u201c\u2026<em>God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.<\/em>\u201d God intends to use your aloneness as a benefit, not a problem.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> See the responsibilities you currently have as given to you by God. <\/strong><br \/>\nPaul in 2 Corinthians 5:9 notes:\u201c<em>Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.<\/em>\u201d\u00a0We have a purpose in life:\u00a0to be pleasing to God. During this time, work to be God\u2019s kind of spouse, parent, and friend.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Stay involved in your local church, even if it\u2019s from an electronic distance.<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Hebrews 10:25, we are admonished to \u201c<em>not forsakeour own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.<\/em>\u201d Focus on giving to relationships, not on receiving. Godly companionship is a wonderful restorative for loneliness.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Remember that\u00a0Jesus was often alone. Yet, He grew from these times.<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Ephesians 5:2, Paul reminds us how much Jesus loved each of us: \u201c<em>and walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.<\/em>\u201d Even when He was dying, His focus was on ministering to those around Him.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Get busy serving others!<\/strong><br \/>\nEach of us has daily responsibilities. Change your perspective and look at those duties as service to those around you. And in doing so, give God the glory when people notice:\u201c<em>just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many<\/em>\u201d\u00a0(Matthew 20:28).\u00a0Do small favors for people or random acts of kindness. \u201cThose kinds of things are really powerful and help to improve your connection,\u201d says Dr.\u00a0Amy\u00a0Sullivan\u00a0of the Cleveland Clinic. Also, as you give to others, it takes your mind off yourself.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">One of the most beneficial actions you can take is to stop focusing on your emotions and\u00a0sense\u00a0of loneliness. Instead,\u00a0focus on accomplishing acts of kindness to those around you. Don\u2019t worry if what you do is not immediately praised or appreciated. Instead,\u00a0stay fixed on being an encourager. It can change your entire outlook on life.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Theologian, C.S. Lewis had this to say about overcoming the feeling of loneliness:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I pray that you may use this time of quarantine to develop a new and fresh outlook on your life.
