{"id":6816,"date":"2017-02-01T08:09:53","date_gmt":"2017-02-01T13:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.faithlafayette.org\/church\/?p=6816"},"modified":"2017-02-01T08:09:53","modified_gmt":"2017-02-01T13:09:53","slug":"abf-series-the-gospel-of-mark-lesson-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.faithlafayette.org\/church\/abf-series-the-gospel-of-mark-lesson-4\/","title":{"rendered":"ABF Series: The Gospel of Mark Lesson 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Review<\/h2>\n<p>In our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithlafayette.org\/church\/ministries\/adult_ministries\/adult_bible_fellowships\">Adult Bible Fellowships<\/a>\u00a0we learned in our bible study over the Gospel of Mark that:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The book of Mark is a biography of Jesus&#8230;so it is good to ask what does the author want us to learn about Jesus<\/li>\n<li>The author writes to\u00a0Roman Christians who grew up in unbelieving homes without the background of Jewish Customs and Scripture.<\/li>\n<li>Mark wrote to Christians in Rome to encourage and strengthen their faith.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Mark speaks to two main questions.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who is Jesus? (1:1-8:30)<\/li>\n<li>What does Jesus expect from those who follow him? (8:31-16:8)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So far we have seen that the Gospel of Mark answers the first question as follows<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Mark 1:1-13 = Jesus is Yahweh, God Himself Come to earth<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mark 1:14-20 = Jesus is on a mission, to call people to repent and believe\u00a0in the\u00a0Gospel.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mark 1:21-45 = Jesus has authority over Satan and Sickness<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>1:21-28: <\/strong>Demon-possessed man<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>1:29-31<\/strong>: Peter\u2019s Mother In law<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>1:32-34<\/strong>: People from all over the region with sicknesses and demons<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>1:35-39<\/strong>: Jesus leaves the area to preach despite the desire for more to be healed<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>1:40-45<\/strong>: The unclean man who is made clean by Jesus<\/p>\n<h2>Sunday<\/h2>\n<p>So in preparation for ABF on Sunday please read the passages listed below and think about the following discussion questions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+2%3A1-3%3A6&amp;version=NASB\" target=\"_blank\">Mark\u00a02:1-3:6<\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What stands out in v1-12 about Jesus teaching and the people&#8217;s response?<\/li>\n<li>What was the Paralytic looking for and what did he receive?<\/li>\n<li>What do you learn about Jesus from this discourse? cf.\u00a0<strong>Isaiah 43:25, 44:22<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Sign up if you would like to have the Faith Church ABF Series automatically emailed to you when posted:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithlafayette.org\/abfseries\">www.faithlafayette.org\/abfseries<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Review In our Adult Bible Fellowships\u00a0we learned in our bible study over the Gospel of Mark that: The book of Mark is a biography of Jesus&#8230;so it is good to ask what does the author want us to learn about Jesus The author writes to\u00a0Roman Christians who grew up in unbelieving homes without the background&#8230;
